Life & Love with Mia

Photo of Mia Leah Mejia

Mia was born on December 28, 2011, in Anaheim, California, to her loving parents, Gustavo and Veronica and older siblings “Mana” and “Bala”.

Mia, a beautiful soul, a symphony of intelligence, kindness, empathy, and love, entered this world in an extraordinary way. She arrived before her mom could settle into a hospital bed. She was born down the street from where she lived her whole life. It is true, her sister’s shoelace was used to clamp the umbilical cord.

Mia kept her family in awe. Zooming by baby milestones. Learning to speak and sing and dance and tumble. They couldn’t get enough.

Mia approached everyone with an open heart – that was her hallmark. She loved deeply. Mia loved her family. She loved her mom. She loved her dad. She loved her “Mana”. She loved her “Bala”. She showed her love through her infectious laugh and radiant smile. She’d gift well-made and thought-out gifts.

Mia was a good friend. A good listener. She offered genuine concern and comforting words to her friends.

Mia’s gentle spirit allowed her to guide fellow daycare kids to understand right from wrong. She was a role model.

Mia attended Clara Barton Elementary School in Anaheim, California, Kindergarten through 6th grade and Lexington Jr. High School in Cypress, California for 7th grade. Mia was a member of both schools’ band. She played the trombone.

ERA Gymnastics was Mia’s second home. She reserved multiple awards and always contributed to the team score at competitions. She was the MVP and still holds the highest scores. Mia loved gymnastics. After high school, she planned on going to either UCLA, OU or AZ State so she could compete in college level gymnastics and then become a gymnastics coach.

Mia was a Swiftie. Her Crosley record player stayed playing Taylor Swift albums. She had all of them. Taylor’s Version, of course. She made hundreds of friendship bracelets.

Mia’s family is thankful for the memories people have shared. They thank God for blessing them with the sweetest soul. A real angel. They are forever grateful for Mia. They will carry the cherished memories and moments that beautifully encapsulate the extraordinary impact of Mia’s young and precious life.

Mia leaves behind her parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, dogs, godparents, friends, teammates, coaches, neighbors, classmates and teachers.

Mia was welcomed in heaven with open arms by her grandma “Teta”, great grandma “Gonchy”, great grandma “Beda”, great uncle “Tio Nico”, great aunt “Tia Ginas”, uncle “Tio Nicho”, Tia Sagra, and fur cousin Koda.
